AD MAJORA LANGHE

Savory, with elegant balsamic and hydrocarbon notes

Marked minerality, notes of hydrocarbon and flint balanced with cherry in syrup, small fruits and balsamic notes of eucalyptus and medicinal herbs.

 

GRAPE VARIETY

Nebbiolo grown in Guyot with sustainable viticulture.

HARVEST

In the first days of October and given the good vegetative energy that characterizes this sub-area, the sorting harvest is brought forward in the summer months by significant leaf removal and thinning.

​

WINEMAKING

Delicate destemming with light pressing and static cold maceration for 1 day to promote the natural enzymatic processes. Alcoholic fermentation at 24° C for 25 days with frequent punching down to favor the production of the complex aromatic heritage and the extraction of the extensive polyphenolic content.

​

REFINEMENT

In worn oak barrels for 8 months, the first of which on the yeasts, acquiring volume, fatness and the characteristic spicy notes. Maturation in the bottle for 6 months, in which the wine softens, the floral, fruity and spicy notes grow and broaden and the more complex balsamic and hydrocarbon nuances appear.

SERVICE ADVICE

Temperature: 16-18°C. It can be consumed young or aged for 8 years.

COMBINATIONS

Transversal wine suitable in combination with: appetizers, first courses with meat sauce and savory pies, second courses of red meats of different origins: sheep, pork or beef and  medium to long matured cheeses.

TASTING NOTES

- colour: intense and brilliant ruby red.

- aroma: notes of cherry in syrup and a nuance of small fruits: ripe blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. Followed by rose, violet and balsamic notes of eucalyptus, medicinal herbs and spices. They close with marked scents that recall hydrocarbons, flint and undergrowth.                                                      - taste: silky, with minty tones, black berries and interesting mineral sensations that make it fresh and tasty on the palate. Light liquorice on the finish with soft but well-present tannins.

VINEYARD FEATURES

Area of origin: Capalot - La Morra. Beautiful vineyard located on the imposing hill of La Morra, it dominates the entire panorama of the Langhe from its almost summit position. The very sunny exposure and the high temperature changes characterize this wine for its flavor, guaranteeing a generous aromatic heritage.

Average altitude: 390 m above sea level

Year of planting: 1960 - 2021

Soil: Laminated Sant'Agata marl interspersed with layers of sandstone and conglomerates with numerous fossil finds proving the marine sedimentary origin and the toponym "Pria" corresponded in ancient times to the term "Stone".
